Introduction

To ensure a consistent experience for clients and analysts, research managers must use the standard format outlined below in terms of content and formatting.

Sample:

Title

• Craft a title that describes the project in 3-5 words, using Title Case.
• If the focus is on a specific geographic region or industry, include this in the title.

Goals

Synthesize the purpose of the research project into a Purpose Statement of ~1-2 sentences. This is the overarching goal the client would like to achieve via the project.

It should summarize the actual data requested and, if provided by the client, why they are interested in the topic and/or how they will use the research.

To Create the Purpose Statement:

1. Summarize the client’s overarching research need.

2. Describe our goal for the research.

3. Synthesize these into a statement that follows the following format:

“The purpose of this research is [xxx] so that the client can make data-informed decisions as they [xxx].”
