Strategy Audit Process
Audit Questions
RM strategy jobs are audited against the following questions.
Rating Scale: Y = Yes, P = Partial, N = No
-
Scoping/Feasibility 5 Total Points
Quality Requirements:
- Is the project feasible as presented? (e.g. No primary research, dependencies are considered and addressed, RCs are logical and actionable) (Y/N) [2 points]
- Is the project scoped accurately? (Y/N) [3 points]
- Client + Analyst Experience Requirement
-
If applicable: if there is a significant misalignment with scoping guidelines - i.e. the research criteria (RCs) appear to be significantly out of scope, but this is based on preliminary research findings - is there evidence/justification/a link to supporting sources (i.e. how/why DA was determined and/or an exception to scoping) as a note on the strategy?
(Y = 0; N = -1)
-
RC Clarity 5 Total Points
Quality Requirements:
- Is the proposal/outline free of typos/grammar errors that make anything difficult to understand? (Y/P/N) [2 points]
- Are RCs concise, and clearly explained? (Y/N) [3 points]
- Client + Analyst Experience Requirements:
- If applicable: Are links provided for company names or similar entities referenced in RCs?
- If applicable: Are definitions provided for jargon?
- If applicable: Are analyst requirements explained for “as necessary” pivots, expansions of focus, or “N/A”? (e.g. a PCU, no explanation, a brief explanation supported by one source)?
-
Scoping Clarity 5 Total Points
Quality Requirements:
- Is everything quantified and, as applicable, do RCs clearly explain the type/amount of data that should be provided (e.g. What timeline should be considered, how many articles for “recent press, etc.) (Y/P/N) [2 points]
- Is the research outline free of ambiguous/vague terms that could impact scope (e.g. “any helpful information”, “as much data as possible”, “high-level overview” w/o explanation)?(Y/N) [1 point]
- Is the client-facing DA statement accurate and aligned with RCs? (Y/N) [1 point]
- Is the proposal, as a whole, direct and aligned with project types? (e.g. no conflicting terms such as using the word “insights” for other types of projects). (Y/N) [1 point]
-
Structure [5 points]
Quality Requirements:
- Is the outline formatted correctly (line spacing, letters, bullets, bold, etc.)? (Y//P/N) [Y = 2; P = 1; N = 0]
- Does the outline include all applicable elements correctly? (purpose statement, introduction, data availability, RCs crafted using actionable verbs, no first/second person structure, etc.)(Y//P/N) [Y = 2; P = 1; N = 0]
- Is each research path outlined individually in the client-facing proposal: (i.e. a separate box within platform) (Y/N) [1 point]
- Is client-facing vs. analyst-facing content correct? (Y/N) [1 point]
- Client + Analyst Experience Requirements:
- If applicable (large project), did were large project SLAs followed? (Y/N) [Y = 0; N = -3]
Audit Score Calculation
Answers to the questions above are translated into a score of 5, 3, or 1.
- 18-20 points = 5
- 15-17 = 3
- 0-15 points = 1
