It doesn’t take much to become a slide pro; you need to follow a few do’s and don’ts!
Remember!
- Your slide presentation will often be used in a meeting or shared with a team. Before you submit it, stop and think—would you present this to a team?
- Work in the template provided for you. Do not change colors or fonts.
- Slides should be consistent. Do not use one type of bullet point on one page and a different kind on another. Don’t use one type of font on one page and another on another.
- Less is more.
- Do not use ALL CAPS. Use bold instead.
- Ensure that all your text and images fit within the confines of the slide.
- Only change the format to make your information fit into the required space.
- Do NOT use paragraphs! Each bullet point should only be 1-2 sentences at max (if absolutely necessary)
- Do not copy/paste directly from your brief. Summarize the information.
- Make sure that the summary focuses on essential information (such as key statistics).
- Limit the amount of text per slide. This is a visual presentation.
- Use high-quality images. Do not use grainy or distorted images.
- Don’t forget to spell-check your entire slide presentation.
- Hyperlink sources and images.
- Maintain consistent fonts, colors, and font sizes across similar elements throughout the presentation. It ensures a professional look.
Images Speak Louder Than Words
Slide presentations rely heavily on images. When we do use words, we edit the content down to be easily and quickly readable.
